The Women’s Chorus of Dallas (TWCD) asked me to take photos of their 2010 holiday concert, Love & Light, with Tony Award Winning singer, Victoria Clark at the Dee & Charles Wyly Theatre. I shot the photos with a Nikon D700 and a Bogen Pro 3051 tripod for stability, positioned a couple rows up from where the sound board usually is located on the main floor.
I have been shooting Turtle Creek Chorale stage productions for the past few years and I previously shot TWCD’s 2008 group photo, but this is the first time I shot a TWCD concert.
I mostly used my Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5 – 5.6G IF-ED telephoto zoom lens on my Nikon D700 body, but my Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G came in handy for the wider shots of the stage. The huge f/1.4 aperture provides a lot of light, but I was mostly stopped down to f/2.8-3.2 anyway. But it is always nice to have the ability to provide a little extra light when you need it.
